More about language input
Spanish classes at PVS focus on creativity, language structure, and gaining an understanding of how language works. The focus of the Spanish classes is language acquisition and not just language learning. And on language structure rather than individual words.
Spanish is taught through games, activities, and short plays and is usually not taught by itself. Most of the Spanish lessons also incorporate some math, art, history or culture. Students learn languages more efficiently when they are taught in a variety of different contexts.

The Spanish plays are taught with a method called Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling. It's based on total physical response techniques developed by James Asher and principles of comprehensible input developed by Steven Krashen.

Each of the plays focus on one or two language structures which are repeated many times. The plays also include six or seven new vocabulary words, some of which are chosen by the students.

The students make language connections as they act out the play and answer questions.
